A BRIEF HISTORY
On September 27, 1896, the “Cassa Rurale di Prestiti (Rural Loan Institute) di San Giorgio di Perlena” was founded at the Dean's Church of San Giorgio di Perlena. Attending the ceremony was Don Gaetano Plebs and a group of thirty farmers. The purpose of the institute, as specified in the charter, was “...the moral and economic improvement of Members, with absolutely no political aims”.
In 1938, the name was changed to “Cassa Rurale e Artigiana di Fara”.
In 1995, the name was changed to “Banca San Giorgio - Credito Cooperativo di Fara Vic.”, and the name and purpose of the firm were finalized into their current form in 2000.
In the early 2012, thanks to the merger with the Quinto Vicentino branch of BCC, established in 1980 and since then active in the area east of Vicenza, the bank’s coverage extended to the province of Padua and its name changed from BCC to "Banca San Giorgio Quinto Valle Agno – Credito Cooperativo”.
On 12 April 2021 and on 21 February 2022, mergers with Banca di Verona ad CereaBanca 1897 were completed with the change in name to "BCC di Verona e Vicenza Credito Cooperativo - Società Cooperativa".
Today, the ‘new’ BCC, as a partner of the Gruppo Bancario Cooperativo Iccrea, operates in the provinces of Vicenza, Verona, Trento, Mantova, Rovigo, Treviso and Padua, and extending its services in the regions of Veneto, Trentino-South Tyrol and Lombardy.
